Map Windows Home Folders in Linux

We would like to consolidate our Windows + Linux home directories into one over SMB/CIFS. It's easy to get windows to map a users home directory to a network drive (e.g. H:\ drive) but how can we make this work for Linux?

The idea is you would have all of your user files easily avaiable to you regaurdless of what OS you are on.

any ideas?
